We’re banning all thoughts of the first day of school and making the most of the dog days of summer by hosting an all ages, everyone welcome, free entrance pool party at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front Hotel in celebration of Endless Summer. Remember this movie?

Hollywood Director Bruce Brown follows two surfers, Mike Hynson and Robert August, on a surf trip around the world.  The duo travels to the coasts of Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii in a quest for the perfect wave.  In 2002, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.  It likely had a big influence on the surf culture of Pensacola Beach.

You may not have the time or the money to follow the summer around the world, or search for the perfect wave, but you can make the most out of northwest Florida’s exceptionally long summer and enjoy some good times in our pool. Who knows you might just find the perfect wave on Pensacola Beach!

  1. The best thing about summer for me, is spending time outdoors with my kids. Enjoying their smiles, their laughs and watching them explore the world around them!

The best thing about Pensacola Beach summer is getting to the beach before sunrise, and paddling my SUP east into a beautiful sunrise. Then I turn around and paddle back to Casino Beach. With the sun behind me I can see all kinds of marine life in the clear water: baitfish, pompano, blue crabs, bottlenose dolphin, and sea turtles. After a couple of hours in the water, I can handle anything the world can throw at me for the rest of the day!
When the wind is out of the north, I can smell breakfast cooking at H20 when I paddle past the Hilton. I’ve always thought about taking the family there for Sunday Brunch. Maybe I’ll win 25 reasons to do it (hint, hint!).

The best part of summertime for me is Blue angel week! We spent one summer at the Hilton, even though we are locals, watching them fly right by the hotel, while we were in the pool! have to add dolphins, turtles and paddleboarding with the Pirate Paddlers…too much to choose from!!!

    • Jill Thomas says:

Thanks so much for sharing Sue. We love the Blue Angels. I saw them fly for the first time this year and got to meet a couple of them. It was pretty awesome.

I live in Wyoming, with my husband who was raised in Milton. We are going to move there when my parents no longer need me here. What I am looking forward to is a summer that is longer than a month and a half. God has truley blessed your beautiful state.

    • Jill Thomas says:

Thanks Carol. It’s true. I’m Canadian in the process of moving to the Gulf Coast so I know what it’s like to have 6 weeks of summer! I can’t imagine ever complaining about the heat in Florida.
