“If you make it well enough, you give it immortality.” —Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway achieved immortality through his novels, his larger than life attitude, thirst for adventure, and his love for the Florida and Caribbean islands. The owners of Hemingway’s Island Grill in Pensacola Beach, Florida have created an ambiance and adventurous menu that Hemingway himself would’ve embraced.
First off the view is awesome. Pensacola Beach is located on Santa Rosa Island, which is technically regarded as a barrier island. Barrier island is really just a geographical term for giant sandbar. Whatever you want to call it, this island is so narrow that there are water views in all directions, with the emerald blue vistas of the Gulf of Mexico ‘Gulfside’ and the tranquil waters of Pensacola Bay ‘Soundside’.
The possibility of more then one kind of beautiful view is what makes this place so special. So while you are visiting Pensacola Beach it’s a great idea to spend some time enjoying the active pace of island life ‘Soundside’. Hemingway’s is a great place to do this.
They offer an eclectic Caribbean influenced menu that reflects island lifestyles. This is made evident by dishes like Havana Harry’s Pork Tenderloin which consists of char grilled jerk-rubbed pork drizzled with fresh mango sauce and served with yellow rice and black beans. They also have lots of fresh seafood on offer such as Long Boat Key Mahi-Mahi which is a grilled filet topped with sauteed shrimp, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and a creamy citrus butter sauce served with island rice.
If you are looking for a more casual place to soak up the ‘Soundside vibe’ and enjoy a few of the cocktails Hemingway so enthusiastically embraced check out Hemingway’s Bimini Beach Bar located below the main restaurant. Ladies drink free on Thursday nights and they host live music on the weekends. Don’t miss $1 fish taco nights on Wednesdays.
Have fun and we look forward to seeing you ‘Soundside’ on Pensacola Beach.
