Hilton’s Relay for Life Spaghetti Dinner & Movie

The Hilton Gulf Front Hotel on Pensacola Beach is hosting dinner and a movie under the pergola on their beachfront pool deck on March 22nd between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.  Bring the whole family for a spaghetti dinner and viewing of  Martin Scorsese’s Hugo.

Tickets are $15 and all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Foundations Relay for Life.  The Hilton management and staff are striving to raise $4000 for this great cause.  Relay for Life will take place on Pensacola Beach on April 13th and 14th at Casino Beach Gulfside Pavilion. Similar events will happen this spring all over North America.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.  It’s an overnight relay race where teams camp out while each member  takes turns walking around the track.  Everyone enjoys food, games and entertainment.

There are many moments that define the Relay experience.   Specific details vary by event but key moments are shared at all Relay events.  The first is the Survivors Lap; an inspirational time when survivors circle the track together to celebrate their victories against cancer.  Then after dark the Luminaria Ceremony honors people who’ve been touched by cancer and remembers loved ones lost to the disease.  Candle lit sand filled paper bags bearing the name of a person touched by cancer are held by walkers for a silent lap.

Finally, the Fight Back Ceremony asks participants to make a personal commitment to take up the fight against cancer with gestures such as taking a screening test, quitting smoking or talking to elected officials about cancer.

The management and staff of the Hilton hotel are happy to extend an invitation to you to join their efforts to raise money for this important cause.
