Jaco’s is the best place in downtown Pensacola to enjoy a sunset, hands down. This local favorite is tucked away in the heart of the historic district at the very south end of Palafox Street. We suggest you park a few blocks north and enjoy a pre-dinner stroll past some of the most interesting architecture in Florida.
When you arrive at Jaco’s, ask to be seated outdoors. Their patio overlooks Pensacola Bay and the Marina, positioning it perfectly to catch a staggering Gulf Coast sunset. Jaco’s won Best of the Coast Awards for ‘Outdoor Dining’ and ‘Best View’ in Pensacola. The ambience is swanky but laid back.
As far as food goes, Jaco’s has a unique, fresh menu that’s just as noteworthy as the atmosphere. Locals favor the diverse offering of flatbreads, ranging from the Tender Blue (steak, caramelized onions and blue cheese) to the Rustic Veggie (roasted corn, avocado, spinach, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and black bean garlic spread). We recommend the Wild Mushroom flatbread — perfectly crisp and substantial enough to support generous toppings that include pancetta, caramelized onions and asparagus, drizzled with truffle oil and a balsamic reduction.
If flatbreads aren’t what you fancy, there are plenty of other dishes to enjoy. Some other favorites include the Crab Cake salad and Salmon Burger. And, of course, there’s the reputable Jaco’s Tacos with flash fried Mahi-Mahi in blue corn tortilla shells, topped with sweet chipotle sauce and bright mango salsa.
Don’t overlook the fully-stocked bar offering an extensive list of beers and wines, as well as some delightful, specialty cocktails. Looking for a glow? Try a Hot Ruby – Milagro silver tequila, infused with fiery jalapeño sage syrup and a splash of sweet grapefruit juice.
Should you wish to indulge, the fried Oreo ice cream is heaven in your mouth. Yes, a fried Oreo. Yes, you’re in the south. Yes, you can thank us later.
In short, Jaco’s has the essential elements needed for a great restaurant experience. The food is reasonably priced with generous portion sizes, the staff is attentive, genuine and friendly and the atmosphere is unmatched.
After dinner be sure to wander back up Palafox Street and immerse yourself in Pensacola’s vibrant nightlife scene.
